Can someone tell me what this is? it is a little larger than a wasp and look at the antenna! A bird tried to catch it, but they split up and it landed on our veranda. After a while it did manage to fly away.

They live in the wall of our bedroom. They creep through a crack above the basement window. At least they are good for the apple threes.

The bee did fly into the spiders net, but the spider was no match and the net was to week so the bee got loose and did fly away.

I was lucky to get a couple of pictures of the Bumble Bee in the air.
It is amazing even with a shutter of 1/1000 the wings a still blurred!

I have been struggling to get a real good shot at the eye. I do think I finally got it!

Yet another Bumble Bee!

Bumblebees are social insects that are characterized by black and yellow body hairs, often in bands. However, some species have orange or red on their bodies, or may be entirely black. Another obvious (but not unique) characteristic is the soft nature of the hair (long, branched setae), called pile, that covers their entire body, making them appear and feel fuzzy. They are best distinguished from similarly large, fuzzy bees by the form of the female hind leg, which is modified to form a corbicula; a shiny concave surface that is bare, but surrounded by a fringe of hairs used to transport pollen (in similar bees, the hind leg is completely hairy, and pollen grains are wedged into the hairs for transport).

I was going for a second try on the Bumble Bee today. Yesterday afternoon it was much darker and I had to use a high ISO value and the picture got a little grainy. The picture today is of a smaller Bumble Bee. It’s taken in direct sunlight so the light is a little too hard. It is difficult to get enough light and not too much sunlight.
