The sun is shining, but the wind is cold and the temperatur is about 12 degress C so I did not find many insects out today.

It was very difficult to take these pictures. The light was dim and they were moving rapidly. I did hope for more depth of field, but it was impossible with the light.

The European garden spider (Araneus diadematus), diadem spider, or cross spider, is a very common and well-known orb-weaver spider in Western Europe. Araneus diadematus also lives in parts of North America, in a range extending from New England and the Southeast to the Northwestern United States and adjacent parts of Canada.

Arachnids are a class (Arachnida) of joint-legged invertebrate animals in the subphylum Chelicerata. All arachnids have eight legs, although in some species the front pair may convert to a sensory function. The term arachnid is from the Greek word άράχνη or arachne, meaning spider and also referring to the mythological figure Arachne.

This spider isn’t as big as it can looks like.
